Welcome To Tang Hall! Whether you’ve just arrived at MIT or have been at Tang Hall for years, the Tang Hall Residents Association (THRA) invites you to join in the 2022-2023 Tang Hall Orientation events!
If you are a new resident, here is a reminder to visit our FAQ page for important information regarding life in Tang Hall. Also, please join our communication channels to make sure you do not miss any important updates.

- Even though RSVPs are not strictly required, priority may be given to attendees who have RSVP’d.
- New and returning Tang Hall residents are encouraged to attend the “Floor Meeting” event on September 10th, Saturday at 11 AM to get to know other residents of your floor.

Tang Hall Orientation Picnic and Sports Evening
Let’s start off this year’s Tang Hall orientation with a picnic in the picturesque lawns in front of our residence hall. Socialize with other graduate students with sports events like Giant Jenga, Spike Ball, TT, football (soccer), and badminton.

Tang Hall Board Games Night
Tired of attending all the orientation events but still want to have fun? Come join us for Board Games with snacks, relax, make new friends while enjoying your favorite game. We hope you don’t get too competitive.

Head of House Chat with Cookies
Come join us for Insomnia cookies and coffee. Get to know your Tang government and head of the house.

Floor Meetings
Come meet your neighbors! Whether you are new to Tang or have been here for years, we ask that you come meet the residents on your floor. Floor Reps will provide snacks and share resources for living at Tang Hall. Everyone is welcome to share their best tips and tricks!

River Walk
Let’s talk and walk along the Charles River! We’ll start at Tang and choose a route that suits the group, whether that’s the Longfellow Bridge loop along the Charles River Esplanade or just up to Trader Joe’s for some mochi ice cream.

Venue: Meet on lawns in front of Tang Hall.
Karaoke and Music Night with Pizza
Join us for an evening full of music and karaoke. Bring your own instruments, sing along with a karaoke track, sing with your friends, sing with strangers, or go solo – the stage is yours. Also, there will be pizza if music is not enough to motivate you.

Succulents and Dessert
Learn about Sustainability at Tang, including recycling and gardening, and get a free plant and dessert. (Can’t attend? Fill out a mini quiz on recycling and we’ll reserve a plant for you!)

Origami Night with Snacks
Do you love art and craft but haven’t gotten an opportunity to pursue it in a long time? Tang Hall welcomes everyone to come and learn how to make origami sculptures, a common Japanese artform. All skill levels will be welcomed. Art supplies (origami paper) and instructions will be provided. We will also serve assorted Asian snacks. The event will be open to MIT graduate students and their families.
